Authorship Responsibility Policy

A Statement of Authorship Form must be completed and retained for each publication at time of submission for publication.

Authorship is defined as follows:

Attribution of authorship depends to some extent on the discipline, but in all cases, authorship must be based on substantial contributions in a combination of:

• conception and design of the project

• analysis and interpretation of research data

• drafting significant parts of the work or critically revising it so as to contribute to the interpretation.

Attribution of authorship will not be required for the short stories about the individual experience of illness.

Procedures

At the time of submission for publication, a Statement of Authorship Form will be completed.

For each publication, an executive author who accepts overall responsibility for the publication will be identified.

• The information recorded will include:

• The title of the paper/chapter/book

• The name of the journal/publisher to which it has been submitted
• The date of submission
• The name and signature of the executive author
• The names and signatures of other authors (where an author is unavailable the appropriate Head of School/Manager of Unit may sign on their behalf, indicating the reason for their unavailability)
• The location of the primary data relating to the work which is the subject of the publication
